Ok, I'm going to veer away from my usual blog format of bible scriptures to talk about my Hero. You know when you are a kid it seems that our hero's are superman, or spiderman. Some fictional being that honestly hasn't done anything in real life that would make them a hero.
But as we get older our "hero" changes. I know mine did. I can say without hesitation that my grandpa Norman Washburn has to be hand done the most amazing man. Ok, well Vern holds a very close second. But anyway, back to my rant. He survived the great depression, floods, fires, drought and the death of his oldest son. But through all those horrific things he never lost sight of the Lord.
He was a true man. He cried, he laughed, and he showed me unconditional love. Pappy was so secure in his faith and knew exactly what he wanted. He prayed to the Lord and asked Him to take him from this world so he could start his everlasting life with his Lord and Savior. He prayed this prayer for awhile. Over a week span pappy had seen some of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He got to hug us, kiss us and we told him how much he had taught us and we loved him so much. The Lord does answer prayers because He answered my Pappy's on September 17, 2006. Pappy is now walking with the Lord and uncle Royce enjoying heaven in all it's greatness.
But I have to admit that I am a selfish person, I didn't want to let him go. But it was very comforting to know that my pappy was ready and knew that his name, Norman O. Washburn, was in the Lambs Book of Life. I miss him so much it hurts. How I wish he was just a phone call away, but he is someplace so much better. He's HOME. Like Diamond Rio's song sings. "God only cries for the living cause it's the living that are so far from home." I love you pappy and I will see you soon.

Peace.
Have you ever experienced true peace? It seems nonexistant in a day and age of murder, constant war, falling economy and daily hardships. " Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28 Jesus has promised that each one of us can experience true peace through Him. " I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27 Augustine said" Our souls are restless until they find their rest in God". Let the peace of Jesus rule in your heart. You will love the difference you feel and see in your life. We are Gods chosen people. It says in Colossians 3:12 " Since God chose you to be the Holy people whom He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." It goes on to say in verse 15, " And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts, for as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful." Don't worry about what is happening or what will happen. The Lord has a plan for us all. He will keep you safe and give you peace of mind to know that. " I will both lie down in peace, and sleep: For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8 "Grace be to you and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ." Galatians 1:3 So this is my prayer for you this day and everyday to come. May you give your worries and burdens to God and ask him to replace those worries and burdens with His ultimate peace. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. All my love in Christ, Des

Fathers.

Have you ever noticed how your little boy does everything their daddy does. No matter if it is undesireable!! But all those little boys want to do is be just like their Father. That is what we all need to do. Be more like out Heavenly Father. We are of the flesh and He knows that. That is why God sent His only son. "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own son in the likeness of sinful flesh on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh" Romans 8:3
Can you imagine sending your only son to die for other people. Now that is selflessness!! Ok sorry, I always get worked up talking about that ultimate sacrifice. Okay back to the original story. God knew we would sin but He also made us the likeness of our Heavenly Father so that we would try to do like Jesus. But if we fall short of the Glory of God. All we have to do is ASK. Ask for forgiveness from the bottom of your heart. POOF!! You are forgiven. What an awesome GOD we serve.. He is a forgiving, loving, caring, and fair God. So don't forget to try hard, pray often and ask for forgiveness. He's waiting to hear from you..
"As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness." Psalm 17:15
Now when see your little boy aor any little boy imitating his father..... Try to do the same..
"I and my Father are one." John 10:30
Thanks for reading. God Bless You..

I love Christmas.
Have you ever noticed how some people are complete maniacs over the holidays. But I believe that in order to stay sane and enjoy the holidays you have to know and love the true meaning of the Christmas season. Thank You God for sending your son to us. God sent His son to us here on Earth knowing that in Jesus' future there was going to be a horrible and tortuous death. But He knew that His son would listen and do what God told Him to do. Mary and Joseph went through horrible times on their journey but they believed in God and knew that He would never leave or foresake them. That is the kind of faith that we all need to have. That no matter what we go through, no matter how horrible things get believe that the Lord will lead you in the right direction. So please let Jesus be your Northern Star. Follow Hima nd He will always lead you in the direction that you need to go. You might want to go one way but let Jesus lead you. Follow Him and you will never go astray. We praise you Jesus for giving us your glorious and Holy son. May the Lord Bless You and Keep you safe and Happy this Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Don't Give Up!!
You know are all guilty of giving up. But I believe that the Lord will not give you more than you can handle. It doesn't matter if it is at work, in your life or emotionally (what ever the case may be). Things happen for a reason. We might never fully understand the reason but He knows what He is doing. All we need to do is to have faith. You kno the kind of faith I'm talking about. You don't have to see it to know it's right there. The kind of faith that you had when you were little and went to bed on Christmas Eve knowing what would be waiting for you under the tree in the morning. The kind of faith that you had that helped block out the pain of pulling your tooth cause you knew the tooth fairy would come. He helps you carry your load, your burdens, your sorrows, your grief. You have to ask Him for His help. He never leaves your side. You stray away from His. All you have to do is find your way back to Him. Ask Him to help. Dont give up. Turn to HIM..Open your heart and your soul. You will be amazed at how much better things are when you have the Lord on your side.
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." Psalm 118:8
Here are a few more versus to look up on faith. Psalm 23:1 Psalm 9:9,10 Romans 15:13
So please remeber that the Lord is with you all the days of your life. You are never alone with Him!! God Bless You and Keep You Safe.

Four letter word...
When ever we hear the phrase "four letter word" we automatically think of bad words. But I got to thinking of a four letter word that is so powerful it can change peoples lives.. LOVE... Loves doesn't have to be just between husband and wives or parents and children. Do you know how much the Lord loves you? If you were the last person on this earth He still would die for you. Now thats unconditional love. It says in the bible, "We love Him because He first loved us." 1 John 5:19
Have you ever heard someone say " well they don't know how to love?" Well I beg to differ on that one. We don't have to learn how to love. Love was given to us by the Lord himself. It tells us that in Romans 5:5. "Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has given to us." The hardest part about loving according to the Lord is that we cannot pick and choose who we love and don't love. The lord tells us to love the people who have done us wrong. " But I say to you , love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you." Okay so that is easier said than done but as long as we try to follow His teachings the best we can and repent when we fall short we will be okay. So on an easier lovin scale. Remeber to love the ones your with. No matter the trials or tribulations. You might think you can do it on your own. Well I can tell you, you cant. Everyone has heard the ol' sayin " Two is better than one". That is in the bible. Yes thats right in the bible... "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls , for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie together, they will keep warm. But how can one be warm alone? " Ecclesiastes4:9-11
So I guess what I'm trying to say is live each day as if its your last, love like the Lord does, and don't take people for granted. Especially the one that is by your side right now... My final scripture of the night is... "And now these three remain, Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest is LOVE." 1 Corinthians 13:13
God Bless each and everyone of you.
I would like to thank my father-in-law (Bud). You have brought me closer to the Lord. I will forever be greatful. Thanks dad. Love you.
